Rejoice

This verse has been stuck on my dresser mirror for years. I remember putting it there during a particularly sleep-deprived stage of motherhood, soon after the birth of my second child, and thinking that I could do with the reminder. In my face. Every day. For such a clear, simple instruction, it is incredibly hard to do, but to rejoice, to pray always and to be thankful in everything requires God’s enabling, so this verse always drives me back to prayer and to dependence on God. I hope as people colour this one that they are reminded of God’s will for them in Jesus, and they’ll be spurred on to remember the God who hears prayers and makes us able to rejoice. The designs are what would probably would end up on a bit of paper if I sat and spoke on the phone to you with a pen in my hand, so consider this artwork a warm conversation with a friend as you colour it.
